Role description

We are seeking a BMS Panel Design Engineer to join our panel manufacturing division. The role focuses on the design and development of Building Management System (BMS) control panels, ensuring high-quality, cost-effective, and compliant designs that support the delivery of our projects.

You will be responsible for creating detailed panel designs, wiring schematics, and layouts that meet project specifications and industry standards, working closely with our manufacturing team to ensure successful production and testing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Produce detailed electrical schematics and wiring diagrams for BMS control panels.
  • Develop GA (General Arrangement) drawings and panel layouts in AutoCAD, E-Plan (or equivalent).
  • Interpret project specifications and control philosophies into practical panel designs.
  • Select appropriate components (relays, contactors, power supplies, I/O modules, etc.) to meet design and budget requirements.
  • Ensure all designs comply with relevant standards (BS EN 61439, IEE Wiring Regulations, health & safety).
  • Work closely with the panel workshop team during build and FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing).
  • Provide clear documentation to support manufacture, test, and installation.
  • Liaise with project managers and commissioning engineers to ensure designs meet project needs.
  • Support continuous improvement of design templates, libraries, and processes.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Proven experience in BMS or electrical control panel design.
  • Strong knowledge of AutoCAD, E-Plan (or similar CAD tools).
  • Familiarity with electrical standards (BS EN 61439, wiring regs).
  • Understanding of HVAC plant and BMS applications.
  • Good knowledge of electrical components used in BMS control panels.
  • Attention to detail and methodical approach to design work.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Engineering qualification (Electrical, Building Services, or related).
